We are pleased to introduce the work of Jeff Hansen, a Colorado artist whose passion for painting began in 1988 and has continued to evolve across nearly four decades.
Working primarily in oils, acrylics, and watercolors, Jeff is drawn to the expressive possibilities of each medium and the different ways they can capture light, color, atmosphere, and emotion. His artistic vision is deeply influenced by four artists whose work has shaped his appreciation for color and observation: Georgia O'Keeffe, Camille Pissarro, Claude Monet, and Vincent van Gogh. O'Keeffe's powerful and intimate approach to flowers resonates strongly with Jeff's interest in floral subjects, while the Impressionist traditions of Pissarro and Monet have influenced his fascination with light, color, and the fleeting qualities of a scene. Van Gogh's bold use of color and expressive brushwork provide another source of inspiration.
These influences can be felt throughout Jeff's work, particularly in his interest in florals and the Impressionist style. Rather than simply reproducing what he sees, Jeff seeks to capture the feeling and character of his subjects—the way light falls across a landscape, the vibrancy of a flower, or the atmosphere of a particular moment.
As a native to the state, Colorado has been an important part of Jeff's artistic journey. Its distinctive landscapes, natural beauty, changing seasons, and dramatic light provide an endless source of inspiration. At the same time, his work extends beyond a single subject or location, allowing him to explore whatever captures his attention and imagination.
Over the years, Jeff has continued to develop his artistic voice through experimentation with oils, acrylics, and watercolor. His willingness to work across mediums reflects his belief that the medium should serve the subject, allowing each painting to develop its own character and mood.
