A graduate of the Visual Arts Program at the University of Denver, Audrey Z approaches her practice through an optimistic and inquisitive lens. Her extensive international travels have cultivated a deep appreciation for cross-cultural perspectives, informing an artistic vocabulary rooted in curiosity, observation, and wonder.
Light is a recurring motif throughout Audrey’s work, serving as both a visual element and a means of directing attention toward moments she finds beautiful, significant, and often fleeting—particularly within the natural world. Her drawings balance scientific precision and intricate detail with an unmistakable sense of play, inviting viewers to look closely while retaining a sense of discovery.
Audrey’s multidisciplinary practice reflects the breadth of her interests. Her acrylic paintings explore the space between abstraction and realism, encompassing animals, landscapes, and portraiture. Across mediums, her work is united by a fascination with the distinctive character and quiet beauty of her subjects.
Following her studies, Audrey spent several formative years in Manhattan working at one of the world’s leading international auction houses. The experience offered an intimate view into the art world while also sparking a second entrepreneurial path. After returning to Denver, she helped a friend edit and bring a book to publication, an experience that revealed the complexity, expense, and fragmentation of the traditional publishing process.
In 2019, Audrey founded Spring Cedars with the intention of reimagining that experience for authors. The company was conceived as an integrated, accessible, and highly personal alternative to conventional publishing. Since its founding, Audrey has guided more than a hundred books to publication, collaborating with writers across the globe and with the artist-illustrators represented by 73 Art Agency.
