Vacation Mode: Visions From Elsewhere brings together a group of artists whose works explore escapism, memory, leisure, fantasy, and the desire to step outside everyday life. Moving through dreamlike landscapes, imagined destinations, personal reflections, and moments of quiet discovery, the exhibition considers travel not simply as a place, but as a state of mind.
Whether inspired by distant locations, fleeting summer experiences, or the longing to be somewhere else entirely, these works reflect the many ways we search for freedom, rest, connection, and transformation.
At once playful, immersive, nostalgic, and contemplative, Vacation Mode invites viewers into a collective escape shaped by curiosity, imagination, and the timeless allure of elsewhere.
The exhibition features works by John R. Anderson, Robin Ashmore, Emmanuelle Auzias, Josh Blue, Pamela Compton, Dave Ember, Brad Jeske, Linda Lowry, Frederick Pichon, Walter Spring, Audrey Z, Lauren Zurcher, and welcomes first-time exhibitors Jared Steinberg and Jarrett Tishmack.

Born in 1931, Anderson devoted over sixty years to abstract painting. He studied at the Minneapolis School of Fine Arts, including Oskar Kokoschka’s symposia, and later earned his BFA from the University of Denver, where he studied under Vance Kirkland. Working across Mexico, London, Denver, and the Northern Plains, he developed a distinctive style rooted in Lyrical Abstraction. Blending the freedom of Abstract Expressionism with a personal visual language, Anderson left behind an extraordinary body of work upon his death in 2021.
"I really like it...it is rich and painterly and has a very rhapsodic quality to it."—Conor Jordan, Christie's New York
"...these paintings of John Anderson's need to be seen by a wider public. He adds a kind of darkness and light to his abstractions that corresponds to his feelings within."—Ronnie Landfield, Lyrical Abstract Artist
